Complete reports for all types of searches and seizures conducted

  • Document whether they result in an arrest or issuance of a citation 
  • Avoid canned or conclusory language in reports and documentation

Establish a system for regular review of documentation and video within the specific timeframes outlined in departmental policies

  • Reviews should assess completeness, accuracy, legal sufficiency, and adherence to policy

Collect, maintain, and analyze demographic data on all searches and seizures

Analyze search and seizure data on a regular basis (annually is preferred)

Make an analysis of data, departmental policies, and reports available to the public
