Summary:

In August 2011, the Civil Rights Division of the US Department of Justice (the Division) opened an investigation into the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) in California. In June 2013, the Division identified a pattern or practice of harassment and profiling of black and Latino residents of Palmdale and Lancaster, California. In May 2015, the parties entered into a court-enforced consent decree, which remains in effect.
